Sustainable Saratoga is a community of residents of Saratoga Springs, NY committed to choosing and creating a new path – to guarantee the future we’d like to see for our children and the next generation to come. It’s a road to sustainability, quality of life and health – to progress and activities that compliment nature, rather than compete with it. We are residents, elected officials, business owners and educators. We’re parents and grandparents and young adults. What brings us together is our commitment to a truly Sustainable Saratoga.
Organized in 2008, Sustainable Saratoga is still in its formative stages. In less than one year, building blocks are securely in place and significant work is in progress toward many of our short-term and long-term goals.
Our working committees are headed by an impressive, diverse volunteer group of experts in transportation, biology, ecology, farming and economic development, to name a few. Committee members are not necessarily experienced in any related field, but simply care enough to commit themselves to a more walkable city, a more bicycle-friendly infrastructure, or increased choices for locally grown food and eco-friendly products. Each committee is charged with establishing short term (3 months) and long term (10 years) plans to recreate Saratoga Springs into a sustainable, happy and healthy place to live, work and go to school.
